The first part of the trilogy was published in 2014, and I know it's probably not related at all, but I can't get that scene out of my head. Tonight I read about what happened in Charlottesville, Virginia. It happened in my country Sweden aswell and in France, Israel, Germany, UK, Canada and other countries. This is real, not just some horror story. That really hit me hard.

Yeah...any time a car is used now as a weapon in an attack to mow down people, I always think back to this book. I know it has to seep into Stephen Kings mind too. He wrote a story called "Rage" many years ago under the pseudonym of Richard Bachman. Disgruntled kid takes his class hostage in high school and shoots and kills his teacher and some of the students. Shades of Columbine and other school shootings happened many years after that story. He pulled all sales of the story after that.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought about this when the Charlottesville tragedy happened. I know in my gut that it was a direct result of someone having seen the opening scene of this show. I'm not a big fan of coincidence in cases like this.

I didn't want to believe it but I've been thinking about it ever since. He acted alone, it all fits. So yes I think you're right, he was probably influenced by the show. That scene was so terrifying because it was so well done. I remember thinking, what if this were to happen in real life, imagine the panic people must have felt the moment they knew they were going to get run over. Maybe they knew, this is it.
Man I fucking hate the state of the world today sometimes. Sorry about the language.

No worries on the language. I feel the same as you. The state of the world SUCKS. Look at what happened in Barcelona. Unfortunately, this is now the world we live in.
