Kawaki collapses and is tormented by nightmares from his childhood. As a child, Kawaki endured an abusive father, until one day a man appeared before him— none other than Jigen, the leader of Kara.

The Five Kage agree to place Kawaki under Naruto’s custody. Naruto takes Kawaki home, but he still refuses to open up to anybody. The atmosphere between Boruto and Kawaki, who fought each other before, turns threatening.

Kawaki starts living in the Uzumaki household, and at first he’s bewildered by their peaceful everyday life. Eventually he’s put to ease by the cheerful and welcoming atmosphere of the Uzumakis. Meanwhile, Boruto is furious that Kawaki has broken a vase that his little sister had made for their mother, fanning the flames between them. As a fellow wielder of the Karma, Kawaki makes a proposal.

Kawaki goes into town with Naruto to get a new vase to replace the one that he broke. On the way to the Yamanaka Flower Shop, they are joined by Sarada. Unaccustomed to peaceful everyday life, he snaps at Sarada’s attempts to talk to him, and almost attacks a child for bumping into him.

Kawaki watches a Shinobi Hand-to-Hand Combat match between Naruto and Boruto. Boruto uses his specialty, the Shadow Clone Jutsu, to take on his father, but he struggles. Upon seeing this, Kawaki tells Boruto to use the power of his Karma. Meanwhile, Kawaki becomes interested in the Shadow Clone Jutsu that Naruto and Boruto like to use.

In order to get a better handle on their Karmas, Boruto and Kawaki decide to train under more realistic conditions. As Naruto and Himawari watch, they activate their Karmas and confront one another. Meanwhile, Delta joins up with Koji Kashin, who’s still pursuing Kawaki. Somehow, Koji is able to sneak into the village without triggering the Hidden Leaf’s sensory system. Delta is left with no choice but to wait for his return. But when he doesn’t come back, she runs out of patience.

Delta forces her way into the Leaf Village to take Kawaki back and appears before Boruto and the others. Naruto confronts her to protect Boruto, Himawari and Kawaki. She attacks Naruto with Scientific Ninja Tools that have been implanted into her heavily modified body. In response, Naruto unleashes the power of the Nine Tails, and a fierce clash ensues!

Delta uses her destructive beam that can neutralize any regenerative power. Undaunted, Naruto forcefully suppresses it with a Giant Rasengan. He then turns up the power of his jutsu and propels it towards Delta. Unfortunately, Delta has been fitted with Scientific Ninja Tools and is able to absorb any jutsu, no matter how powerful… What will be the outcome of this battle?!

Kawaki has lost an arm in the battle against Delta, so he is given the prosthetic arm made for Naruto. Though the prosthetic can't move without Naruto's chakra, Naruto shares some of his chakra with Kawaki. Kawaki is surprised by this gesture and remembers how Naruto said that chakra is the power to form bonds with one another. He asks Naruto to train him in Ninjutsu. Meanwhile, Delta informs Jigen that Boruto also has a Karma on his palm. Upon hearing this, Jigen smiles…

As Naruto sleeps, Kawaki repairs the vase he broke. Suddenly, Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Beast, appears before him. Kurama has been living with Naruto since he was sealed within him and tells Kawaki that Naruto used to be just like him. Upon hearing about Naruto's life, Kawaki aspires to become just like him. He reaffirms his decision to work with Boruto, who is also branded with a Karma, to defeat Jigen and the Kara.

Using the Transportation Technique, Sasuke arrives at a strange location that is covered with mysterious inscriptions. There he finds many surprising things about the Otsutsuki Clan. Meanwhile, Boro, one of the leaders of the Kara, has been using his mysterious powers publicly to heal the sick. He tells the people who have gathered that he has a way for everyone to achieve happiness.

Kawaki's Karma starts to act up and Jigen, the leader of the Kara, appears before him! Not only are Naruto and Kawaki surprised, but so is Koji Kashin, who had been secretly keeping an eye on Kawaki. Jigen tries to take back Kawaki by force. Upon seeing this, Naruto battles Jigen to protect Kawaki! A direct confrontation between Naruto, the Seventh Hokage, and Jigen, the leader of the Kara, finally begins!

Naruto has been pulled into a different dimension by Jigen. There he encounters Sasuke, who tells him that Jigen is a dangerous person and that they must do whatever it takes to defeat him immediately. Naruto and Sasuke work together to defeat Jigen in a fierce battle, but they struggle against Jigen's advanced fighting abilities and mysterious jutsu. Meanwhile, Boruto gets a bad premonition when his Karma starts acting up, and so he quickly returns home with Mitsuki. Kawaki and Sarada are there, worried about Naruto's safety.

Boruto, Kawaki and the others sense something has happened to Naruto. But before anyone can act, Shikamaru and his subordinates arrive and erect a barrier around the Uzumaki home to contain Kawaki, believing he can't be trusted.

Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki, and Kawaki arrive at the dimension that Naruto is trapped in, but Boro is there waiting for them. The four create a team with Sarada leading them to fight Boro, who uses a black mist to paralyze his enemies.

The reformed Team 7 launches a series of attacks on Boro. But even when they land successful attacks, Boro instantly revives himself with his extraordinary regeneration powers.

Boro goes on a rampage and attempts to eliminate Boruto and the others. Boruto is beat down and falls unconscious. Then suddenly, his Karma activates and he becomes possessed by Momoshiki's spirit.

Kawaki begins to worry that his presence is endangering everyone in the Leaf Village. Just as he makes the decision to leave, he notices Himawari acting strange.

Konohamaru and Sai are given a mission to infiltrate Boro's cult in order to obtain information on Kara and its whereabouts.

News has spread throughout the Leaf Village that a cloaked man has stolen data from the archives. Team 10 decides to launch their own investigation to find and catch the thief.

Amado defects from Kara. Desiring to seek asylum in the Leaf Village, he takes Shikadai hostage. If granted asylum, Amado promises to provide the Leaf Village with every bit of knowledge that he has about Kara.

Amado reveals to Naruto and the others the knowledge that he possesses regarding Jigen, the Otsutsuki Clan, and Karma. Meanwhile, Koji Kashin confronts Jigen, and Amado's plan to eliminate him is revealed.

Koji Kashin continues his battle with Jigen, whose body is revealed to have been taken over by Isshiki Otsutsuki. He continuously hits Jigen with a barrage of attacks in an attempt to drag Isshiki out of his body and destroy him.

Isshiki regains his true form and goes to the Leaf Village to recapture Kawaki. The Leaf shinobi prepare for his arrival. Boruto is willing to fight, but he becomes frightened at the possibility of losing control of his Karma again.

Boruto opens a portal and transports Isshiki and himself to another dimension. Naruto and Sasuke follow them, and the final battle against Isshiki begins.

Naruto and Sasuke are greatly overwhelmed by Isshiki's abilities. As a last resort, Kurama offers Naruto a chakra mode called Baryon Mode, which grants him immense power. The intensity of this power, however, could end his life.

Naruto and the others are exhausted from their battle with Isshiki. Suddenly, Boruto attacks Sasuke. Momoshiki has taken control of Boruto’s consciousness and stands before them as an enemy. Kawaki desperately calls out to Boruto to snap him out of it. Unfortunately, his words are unable to reach him. Sasuke tells Kawaki a way to bring back Boruto’s consciousness. In order to save Boruto, Kawaki attempts a risky plan using a jutsu he only recently learned. While Kawaki and Sasuke fight a desperate battle, Naruto finally runs out of strength. As his consciousness fades, he and Kurama quietly reminisce about their past.

Finished with their battle against Isshiki, Boruto and the others return to the village. Thanks to their work, the safety of the village has been maintained. Boruto is terrified by the fact that Momoshiki once again took over his consciousness during battle. Meanwhile, Amado provides some new information concerning Code, whose powers surpass Jigen. As that happens, something appears before Code, who has been keeping watch over the immature Ten-Tailed Beast in Kara’s possession!
