Discuss The Time Traveler's Wife

As part of a 2022 tax savings scheme, HBO Discovery is axing several popular TV series in midstream, including The Time Traveler's Wife. Oh, well . . . .

Well, if it's the same as the movie, then we already know what will happen. If not, there are questions like, 'Will he still have a daughter or will it be a son', 'Will he die?'.

I've been recording all eps on my PC's hard drive via my PlayOn Home Windows server for later viewing (via streaming them from my PC to my TV as MPEG4 video files). Now that it's cancelled, I may wipe them all out w/out viewing them, just to save space, since I likely won't ever see an ending.

Disappointing. But it's still worth keeping HBO Max (to be renamed just Max on 5/23), because I can still record other shows and lots of great movies curated from the TCM library. I just hope that HBO Max is now done messing around w/mid-stream movie & TV show cancellations. I'm saving a lot of $ by having an annual subscription, but I don't like what they've been doing lately.

There's an ending. I won't spoil it but they definitely gave it an ending in the same way that a chapter ends and then the next chapter beings a new chapter. If you want to know what happens after this show ends you could just watch the movie. To me the movie is still better than this series but that doesn't mean it's not worth seeing.

I'm confused. If they're canceling it midstream, how do you know there's a "chapter ending" of some sort. Why shouldn't I just watch the movie to see how it ends?

What I said was that you should just watch the series. And then watch the movie after the series and you will find out what happens after the series ends. But the series contains almost everything that happens in the movie so there isn't a lot left to wrap up. They did a good job of giving it an ending while also leaving it open in case there was a second season.

Well, if the movie has more than in the series, I don't think I need to waste a lot of time watching all the existing episodes if I can just watch the movie and get a satisfying ending. Does that make sense?

The series has more than what's in the movie too though because they had to cut a bunch of stuff from the movie for time. The series has what I would consider a satisfying ending as well albeit not as satisfying as the movie. If you had to pick only one I would pick the movie.

Thanks, I guess I'll just watch the movie.
