It seemed to me this episode's conclusions should have been reversed.
They called the making mayo in a thunder storm is not recommended myth 'busted' because they were able to make mayo. But the mayo was described as being "thin" by Elijah and the other kids. Well, that's the reason why it's discouraged! From everything I've read online, all of which was posted years ago, everybody came to same conclusion: The high humidity during a thunder storm makes it difficult to emulsify the eggs and oil to make mayonnaise. It will come out "watery". People posted ways to make it thicker... adding another egg and lowering the temp, if I remember correctly. So this myth, at the very least, should have been called 'plausible'. Why? Because when using that storm box, their mayo came out thin! Mayo is sposda be thick.
The paper shredder/air in a can can cause an explosion myth was deemed 'confirmed.' This is ridiculous. Sure, they got the paper shredder to explode. But they had to take the whole damn thing apart, disable the various safety features, grind the blades down to replicate a decade's worth of constant use, create HUGE sparks by causing a forward and reverse, never ending jam, make sure tons of paper dust and paper shreds were trapped in the compartment, tilt the can at some magical, perfect angle and spray and spray until something finally happened. Nothing usually did happen, so they would damage the shredder some more until, finally, all hell broke loose. Well no shit! The only thing they didn't do was put a bomb inside the shredder! Confirmed?? I might be able to handle 'plausible' here but by golly, even that seems like a stretch.
