Discuss Dracula

This comes across as a horror black comedy. Why is it that modern writers have a compulsion to put their own lifestyle slant on classic novels? The last "Sherlock" was dreadful - self indulgent stupid and sad - and this is no better. Van Helsing is now a self important nun and Jonathan Harker is known as Johnny Blue Eyes - the story bears no relation to the original so I wonder why these writers just don't invent a new horror character and do what they wish with it instead of hi-jacking an original idea and wrecking it with their own determination to include gay references for no reason whatsoever and which had no justification at all. Did the nun Van Helsing have to ask Johnny Blue Eyes TWICE "did you have sexual intercourse with Dracula?" Do we have to have this lifestyle thrust down our throats with every series that appears on television - have the PC brigade so much power now that it is compulsory? I wont be watching any more of this rubbish.
