I have frequently mentioned the fact that M*A*S*H made no mention of North Korean communist dictator Kim II Sung ( who totally began the Korean War)! I now point out that usually the series showed South Korean army officials as totally inhuman monsters or poor shnooks shanghaied right into army service. However in a couple of early 2nd season eps Pat Morita played a South Korean military official yes? And he was ok. Many viewers probably thought he was playing a US military officer of Japanese ancestry or a Japanese officer but no he was SK. This was before Alan Alda100 percent took over the show and for a second I thought this might have been reflective of a kinder attitude than Alda's that the previous folks running the show had of SK but OTOH. A third season ep had a guy who had been kidnapped by South Korean army guys and said that he then realized he had volunteered to join the SK army. This was in the ep Denis Dugan guest started ( as a different character). This ep was also made by the show's original creators.
