I watched this show tonight & for the most part it wasn't horrible. I think we all know what the 'mystery' is though. But what I found odd was, it supposedly takes place on Long Island (Peconic Bay, Southold), but not one person had even a hint of an accent.

Maybe not a Long island accent but the main lady sounded slightly Canadian though, having just looked her up, it might have been a holdover from her time on Fargo (Minnesota). The reporter, despite being Welsh IRL and studying/working in London, kept slipping into Australian.

I've been a little curious about this series (which I've so far not checked out), but for some reason feel like it's going to wind up being yet another cancelled 1-hour ABC series upon conclusion of the season, so keep feeling reluctant to give it a look.

Btw, I'm a regular ABC viewer, so frequently see commercials for this series, and numerous times have found myself wondering how/why the little girl is able to speak perfect English if she's (I gather) "not of this world". Those of you watching the series, does that seem to indeed be the case, that she's an alien?

I've read positive reviews about this series, so gather it must be pretty good.

I gave up partway through the second episode.

So far this new Fall season, no new series has gotten me enthusiastically interested or feeling solidly onboard (nor much caring if they wind up cancelled). I've regularly followed Prodigal Son and Almost Family - both which are on FOX - and may stick with them, though am not exactly wowed by either, and don't care for certain things about each. So far they've each managed to keep me whatever extent of intrigued or curious and coming back for the next episode.

To tell you the truth I don't think I'm watching any new shows? I watch PBS & MHZ on Mon. & Tues., Chicago Med & Chicago Fire on Weds., Supernatural on Thursday, Hawaii 5-0 & Magnum on Friday & NCIS: LA & The Rookie on Sunday. The rest of the time I watch stuff on my streaming channels. I watch entirely too much TV.

I tried PBS Masterpiece's new Press drama series, but didn't care for it; I watched all of the first episode, then about 10 mins. of episode 2, still didn't warm to the characters or story, so gave up.

In addition to dramas and comedies, I enjoy documentaries and the such, so often a PBS station or NHK World has something interesting on that I like.

I forgot about Press. I'm watching the second episode now. It's okay, maybe I'll watch episode three if I remember. It's weird seeing 'Leonard' (Al Weaver) in a modern role.

Press is first time I've ever seen him in anything other than Grantchester. Had to look twice, as he looks quite different with the curlier hair and the glasses, not to mention modern clothes.

Only watched the pilot, but everyone liked it - I'll keep you posted. I do agree that it seems to have "rapid cancellation" written all over it, but then I thought that about Manifest (which IMHO rapidly went from intriguing to ridiculous but still somehow got renewed).

So far this year the only new show I've really loved has been Carnival Row.

With each new season it's becoming harder to click with new series, as networks anymore are increasingly quick to cancel at end of (or at some point prior to) the debut season, if the show doesn't have phenomenal ratings - and this current season really no new series does. Even the new series, this season, that have the highest viewership still have been having viewership numbers that are considered strictly lacklustre and far less than hoped for.
