从异空间出现的无限·佐鲁巴度斯帝王所率领的无限帝国军使人类陷入了绝境，在极东地区组织起来的特种部队“兽战机队”为了迎击无限帝国军而奋战。“兽战机队”中的藤原忍、结成沙罗、式部雅人、司马亮4个年轻人负责操纵可以变形为人形、兽形等3种形态的“兽战机”。4台机体还可以合体变身为巨大机器人断空我，受到驾驶员精神力的影响可以发挥出无敌的力量。夏比罗·基斯曾经是藤原忍等人的教官，但后来却倒戈投向了敌对的无限帝国军，成为了侵略地球的尖兵和兽战机队发生了激战。夏比罗和沙罗此前还曾经是一对恋人，就此展开了一段超越敌我双方的爱恨情仇的壮阔剧情。

1986年，外宇宙的∞無限‧佐魯巴多斯帝國（ムゲ·ゾルバドス帝國）開始入侵地球，地球人雖然進行了拚死抵抗，但是由於雙方科技力量相差太多，再加上∞無限帝國的突然襲擊，地球軍並沒能取得多少勝利，美洲大陸很快就被壓制並局部占領。處在澳洲的宇宙軍士官學校也在第一次交戰中受到攻擊，雖然擊退了敵人，但學校也因嚴重受損而不得不關閉，藤原忍和結城沙羅等學員們也被分配到各地的抵抗組織繼續戰鬥。

Geconfronteerd met de dreiging van extreem krachtige buitenaardse wezens die de aarde willen overnemen, wordt een speciale militaire eenheid gecreëerd. Vier piloten worden gerekruteerd om verschillende diermachines te besturen (de adelaar, de tijger, de poema en de mammoet) die, eenmaal samengesteld, de beestachtige robot DANCOUGAR vormen. Dancougar - Super Beast Machine God is a super robot anime television series. The show ran for 38 episodes from 4 April 1985 to 17 December 1985 and was produced by Ashi Productions. Although the series was planned for 52 episodes, it was ended abruptly before a finale could be reached. Despite this, the series garnered enough popularity for the development of multiple OVA's. Juusenki Tai Songs featured music videos of the various theme and insert songs from the series to TV series footage. The 1986 OVA Requiem for Victims featured a recap of the television series and a newly-animated conclusion to the story. Additionally, there was a 1987 sequel OVA God Bless Dancouga. In 1989 the four-part Blazing Epilogue OVA series presented a new sequel.

Muge diventa ancora più temibile grazie a Shapiro Keats, un terrestre avido di potere diventato traditore. Spetta a Shinobu, Sara (la vecchia fidanzata di Shapiro), Masato e Ryo della Jyusenkitai/Cyber Beast Force pilotare i quattro Jyusenki/Beast Mecha (Eagle Fighter, Land Cougar, Land Liger e Big Moth [un mecha mammut]), che possono combinarsi nel mech gigante Dancougar.

지구에 '무게 졸바도스'라는 정체불명의 외계인들이 침공하고, 이에 대응하기 위해 지구에서는 수전기대(獣戦機隊)라는 특수부대가 창설된다. 수전기대는 탱크, 전투기 형태의 수전기에 탑승하는 파일럿들로, 수전기는 전투형/인간형으로 변신할 수 있으며 또한 파일럿의 분노에 반응하여 야수의 본능을 이끌어낸 야수형태의 어그레시브 비스트(Aggressive Beast)모드로 변신하는 메카닉이다.
