Der Wächter Merrick überbringt der High-School-Schülerin Buffy die Nachricht, dass sie die Jägerin, die Auserwählte ist. Sie wird von ihrem Wächter in verschiedenen Kampfsportarten und über Vampirismus unterrichtet, um den Kampf gegen den Vampirfürsten Lothos aufzunehmen. Buffy schafft den Wandel vom Cheerleader zur Jägerin. Anfangs jedoch zweifelt sie an ihrer Aufgabe bis es zum ersten Treffen mit einem Vampir kommt. Sie erhält später Unterstützung von Pike, der anfangs alles andere als ein Freund zu sein scheint.

On June 18, 2002, The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences proudly hosted "Behind the Scene of Buffy The Vampire Slayer", a panel discussion featuring members of the cast and creative team from the hit series.

In attendance were series creator Joss Whedon; actors Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, James Marsters & Michelle Trachtenberg; and Director of Photography Raymond Stella, Production Designer Carey Meyer and Executive Producer Marti Noxon.

Held at the Leonard Goldenson Theatre in North Holywood, California, the Buffy cast and creative team were welcomed by ATAS Chairman Bryce Zabel.
