Again, the white characters are all flawed, while the hero, a racially ambiguous brown girl has no flaws and has to be told by the flawed white characters that she's worthy, and good enough, and deserving of a better life.

Not talking about what she looks like, but her behavior. If you watched the whole season, you would see that the 2 leads were more than just friends in the past.
