Every series is assumed to be returning until an official cancellation/end or after an abnormally long hiatus. The status for Ted Lasso will remain unchanged until there is an official announcement of the series' future or there is an abnormally long hiatus without any news.

What is an abnormally long hiatus? Season 1 premiered August 14th 2020. Season 2 was announced August 19th 2020. Season 3 was confirmed October 28th 2020. Season 2 premiered July 2021. Season 3 premiered March 15th 2023. They had confirmed 3 seasons in 76 days of season 1 being premiered and the time between the last season announcement and now is 1161 days or 3 years, 2 months and 5 days.

So what is an abnormally long hiatus without any news? Because its been 3 years since any announcement regarding Ted Lasso.

Season 3 ended in May 2023 so it's been only 7 months without news, not 3 years. A hiatus begins after a season ends, not when a season is ordered.

Multiple writers have confirmed that the show ended with season 3. You reopened the show as Returning when a co-writer said that the show could return in one form or another but Sudekis has said that it was a 3 season arc and always was.

Apple doesn't typically announce that a show has ended. I couldn't find a time when it had. The only information that seems to come out is when a show is cancelled.

As for announcements most Apple shows are renewed during their season or within 3 months of the last episode of the season. For Apple it has already been an abnormally long hiatus without any announcement. For their biggest show they would announce a new season as soon as they can. Which they did. No information for 3 years from Apple is confirmation that the show is finished when you look at the way Apple treats every single other show. I'll accept any decision that you make but Ted is Dead.

Again, the hiatus does not begin when the previous season was ordered but after the current season has ended. It's only been 7 months without any news, not 3 years. If there's no news by the end of this year or early next year, then the status will be updated since that would now be an abnormally long hiatus for this series.
