Friday February 4 marks episode number 14970. So thirty episodes from that will be sometime in mid-March.
This is an important milestone for General Hospital, whether or not ABC recognizes it.
It is second in overall number of episodes for a continuing scripted drama, behind Guiding Light which had a combined total of 18, 262 on radio and television.
GH will have to remain on the air for another 13 years to surpass GL (if they continue to average 250 episodes per year).

The 15,000th episode of General Hospital will air on Friday March 18th...provided there are no pre-emptions in the next few weeks.

Good to know. There's just time for me to get my party hat out. No, really, I'm getting my party hat out.

They should have tried to time it with St. Patrick's Day and wrote a happy episode of people celebrating.

It’s iffy if IMDb is accurate on the exact number of episodes. They were off years earlier and I gave up trying to set them right.

I remember it used to be a big deal when a soap hit a new thousand-episode mark. The milestone would lead to an on-set party and pictures would be published in Soap Opera Digest with the exec producer and veteran cast members standing around a cake with the magic number written on it in colorful icing.
Not long ago when Days of Our Lives hit 14000, they had a party with a cake and balloons on the set...and there were photos posted online.
So I don't see why GH wouldn't want to commemorate its own milestone. But maybe in the grand scheme of things at ABC/Disney, it's just another workday...
