Director Barbet Schroeder's 1974 documentary GENERAL IDI AMIN DADA [A SELF PORTRAIT] may be the ultimate realization of the phrase 'give 'em enough rope.' Schroeder just turns the camera on and lets Amin dictate the itinerary.
