Helicopter pilot Ed was hired by the Government Agency known as The Hive, to pick up one of it's agents, who was assigned to pick up an invention known as Sacros. Just after Ed has picked up the The Hive agent, his helicopter is attached in mid-air, by those who want to steal Sacros. Meanwhile at The Hive HQ, agent Nick Beckett gets a phone call from his friend and fellow agent, who tells him that someone in The Hive is trying to steal Sacros, just before they are shot during the call. Nick Beckett then calls a business called Gizmos, which is owned by Ros Henderson, to get help in trying to find out who killed his friend, and also who is trying to steal Sacros.
