Discuss Mission: Impossible

I've incurred a lot of recent expenses. I won't bore the board with details, but the bright side is that I am getting a lot of cash back from Amazon. I will order season 7 of Mission: Impossible and am considering the 1988 reboot. Has anyone seen it? Is it any good.

I remember trying to watch it when it came on TV, but I had too much fun that year and my attention span was horrible and I couldn't follow it.

So I'm wondering if anyone here has any opinions on it. (I may just spend my money on something else.)

It’s been about 15 years since I watched it but I enjoyed it for the most part. I don’t think my friends in this board were as favorable to it. πŸ˜€ I think it is worth a view though

The good episodes are VERY good. The bad episodes, which outnumber the good ones are pretty bad. Check out the posts on that board, which include some of my comments, to get a better vibe.

UPDATE: Not sure what happened to my posts on that M:I 1988 board, but they've been deleted. You can see some of Maria's responses to my deleted posts though.

Thanks. I just assumed that those boards would be empty without even taking the time to check.

A rookie mistake that I will blame on old age.

@lima-2 As you mentioned, your reviews aren't present, but I can guess from the context that it was a substandard show. Maria certainly didn't think much of it.

I will spend my money elsewhere.

It's true, Mission Impossible 1988 is not one of my favorite TV series. About the only nice thing I can say regarding it is that I liked Phil Morris (Greg's son) playing Grant Collier, Barney Collier's son and second generation electronics whiz.

Howdy all! Last week I happened to stumble across a YouTube channel that was playing full episodes of Mission Impossible 1988. I decided to watch one of the season one episodes. Big mistake. It was rather forgettable. The only thing that I can remember clearly is that Greg Morris guest started as Barney Collier (Mr. Morris apparently appeared in 3 episodes of the reboot). The plot? The reboot team has to rescue Barney from a prison where he's been falsely convicted of murder and is scheduled to be excuted. That's basically it. The ONLY good thing about this episode is that once again Greg Morris gets to work with his son Phil Morris.

I just finished the series. I liked it better than you guys did. Not saying it was greatness or anything but I liked the fact that it was a couple of extra seasons of MI

Part of the problem with the 1988 reboot was that A LOT of the episodes used scripts from the 1960's series.

Yeah I’m not sure how many but it was still worth watching

Yet ANOTHER problem I had with the 1988 reboot was while the first season featured episodes set in countries all over the world, season two was not so much.

Please allow me to go into one of my legendary tangent filled explanations, s'il vous plait: In season one, while Jim Phelps always accessed the assignment tape SOMEWHERE in San Francisco, in season two one never had a clue where the assignment tape was placed (to be continued because my painkillers are starting to kick in)......

EDIT: I just wanted to say Thank You to all of my fellow Honorary Impossible Missions Force Agents for my erratic behavior over the last few months.

I took a look at all of the episodes on that YouTube channel I mentioned. Season 1 was much better than season 2. In season 1, I believe that the series was filmed in the US and used American actors and when the plots required that the mission be in a particular foreign country they did their best to make it look like they were in that particular country. Season 2, not so much. Season 2 was filmed entirely in Australia (only Diety knows why) and EVERY guest star that appeared in season 2 had an Australian accent. No matter what country the guest star's character was supposed to be from, they spoke with an Australian accent. It drove me nuts. Oy Gevalt!

Really? I knew it wasn't just me. I KNEW IT! 😎

I finished watching the movies! I know this will not be popular here but I enjoyed most of them 😁

I went to the movie theater to see the first one, when it was released in 1996. The one where Jim Phelps is the traitorous villain. Haven't watched any since.
